Recent years have seen a dramatic increase in the sales of cool gadgets. And as we head towards Christmas, it is likely one or two are on your lists heading off to Santa, or the department stores through which much of how work is now franchised. If you haven’t already, you may want to consider these three contenders however.

First up is the Star Theatre Planetarium which, relying on commercially designed technology, is simply stunning. With dazzling white LEDs, true to life constellations and even shooting stars can be projected onto practically any surface.

Modern city dwellers rarely get to see the stunning real life show that nature puts on each night, but with this piece of kit, we can all enjoy the fun and wonder.

This is cool; however it is not particularly practical of course. The Powermat however, certainly is, and set to be one of the cool gadgets around for quite some time to come.

This is the ultimate in wireless charging tech, working with some clever gadgetry that allows you to place your other kit on a pad to charge. With a simple connection to the compatible receiver, you no longer have to search for that missing charger and trip over all those wires.

There is a problem charging anything other than those gadgets above presently; but this can be done using the charge cube and USB connector that comes with the Powermat. Other receivers will be coming out in the New Year too, so it is well worth getting your hands on one now.

Some will argue that the Magic Wand Remote Control should not be amongst the cool gadgets for the season. But, it is. I’m sure we’d all secretly like to be Harry Potter in some regards; and now we can be, at least when controlling our TV, Home Cinema and any infrared enabled device.

Unlike lesser devices, this wand does not need any buttons. Control of your TV, Home Cinema, digi-box, iGadgets and so on is as simple as waving it. With predefined controls that you set, all basic functions of any infrared device can be controlled.

There are of course many other cool gadgets out there. But these are just something a little out of left field that will be used time and again.
